Myths
the first thing they ask is do you believe in this?
it’s a pretty simple question, the answer is no or yes
do you believe in metamorphosis? do you believe, do you believe in myths?
they’ll want to know what got you so convinced
what you learned as a child and anything you’ve learned since
it means more than blood or money or things for which you wished
it means more than god or science or anything that exists
they’ll want to know if anything has been missed
it’s a pretty simple question, do you believe in myths?
the wind blows from 2 dimensions on the dark side of the cliffs
you’ll see some misdirection, different ways in which to guess
don’t be fooled by smoke or mirrors or choose cards from unshuffled decks
beware of traps and deceptions as you take the final steps
don’t be fooled by looks on their faces or games that may be fixed
they’ll be asking for the truth, try not to resist
they’ll show you where you came from and show you where you’ve been led
they’ll know everyone you’ve talked to, know every book you’ve read
what was given, what was taken, and everything you’ve said
they’ll know all that you’ve been taught, know the thoughts inside your head
they know about your sins and secrets that you hid
they’ll know everything about you and they will know everything you did
everyone is asked about the way they lived their lives
and how it feels to take off the disguise
and how it feels to look into their eyes
to hear the gospel truth and then be asked – if you believed in lies?
you’ll endure heart pounding drama as they explain what happens next
they’ll look inside your brain, the pressure may be intense
they’ll ask how it feels to stare into the abyss
and if you’re prepared to be a witness to your own death
don’t try to look away or they will blow your soul to bits
don’t try to escape, i’m afraid you’ll have little chance
and it all leads up to one final question – do you believe in myths?
be careful of hidden meanings and how certain words are phrased
there may be baffling concepts and questions that need to be raised
be aware of how the devil works in mysterious ways
after all we’re just actors with small parts in meaningless plays
walking blindly into a light we only see on our darkest days
as time dissolves in the past with great pride they calmly explain –
how it’s possible to solipsistically fool yourself with your own legerdemain
next examine and decipher ways you’ve lived your previous lives
you’ll behold and re-perceive the distant worlds beyond your eyes
and then can’t help but admire the clever way it’s all been devised
it’s all so clear when a predetermined verdict is invoked –
from future, past & present lives
beware of how they approach you
they’ll be armed with double edged swords
beware of what they ask you & the fancy way they craft their words
beware of their skillful sleight of hand and logic that’s thorny & curved
derived from phantasmagorical optical illusions that appear –
in a frightening haunted house of cards
if they gave you one more day to walk along the streets
feel the wind on your face, feel the sun upon your cheeks
were given one more chance to re-examine your beliefs
would you fall for the same scams and the same crooked techniques?
and make the same mistakes and fall for the same deceits?
be more knowing of the tones and of the ways the con-artist speaks?
would you give it all away to them –
or let them break you down piece by piece?
or be seeing it in terms of what higher meanings one man seeks?
then all is revealed in the words of one final judgement
